Auspicious Marriage Dates 2025: Shubh Vivah Muhurta

A Vivah Muhurta is an auspicious window of time selected for conducting a Hindu marriage ceremony. Choosing the right Muhurta is considered one of the most important decisions in wedding planning — far more significant than the venue or decoration. The Muhurta sets the energetic foundation for the marriage itself.

A good Vivah Muhurta requires: an auspicious Tithi, a favourable Nakshatra for marriage, a beneficial Vara (weekday), absence of Rahu Kaal and Yamaganda during the core ceremony, the Lagna (rising sign at the time of the ceremony) being free of malefic influence, and ideally the placement of Jupiter or Venus in strong positions.

<strong>Auspicious Tithis for marriage:</strong> 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 13th of the Shukla Paksha (waxing fortnight). The full moon (Purnima) is also auspicious. Avoid 4th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 14th Tithi, Amavasya, and Rikta Tithis.

<strong>Auspicious Nakshatras for marriage:</strong> Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula (with conditions), Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati.

<strong>Auspicious Varas (weekdays):</strong> Monday (Moon — emotions, family), Wednesday (Mercury — communication, contracts), Thursday (Jupiter — wisdom, blessings), Friday (Venus — love, beauty, marriage). Avoid Saturday (Saturn — delays) and Tuesday (Mars — aggression).

<strong>Periods to avoid:</strong> When Jupiter (Guru) is combust or retrograde, during solar and lunar eclipses, during the Adhik Maas (extra month), and when the Sun is in Sagittarius or Gemini (these are traditionally considered weaker periods for marriages in some regions).

<strong>Months to generally avoid for marriages:</strong> Ashadha, Bhadrapada, and Ashwin (the Chaturmas period), and Paush (winter solstice month) in some regional traditions.

The ideal Vivah Muhurta is not just auspicious in general — it is tailored to the specific Kundalis of the bride and groom. The ceremony Lagna should not conflict with the bride's or groom's Janma Nakshatra or their current Dasha lord. The 7th house of the Muhurta chart should be free from malefic influence.
