How these dates are computed

  • At sunrise the Moon must occupy one of the eleven vivah nakshatras — Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada or Revati.
  • The tithi must not be rikta — the 4th, 9th or 14th of either paksha — nor Amavasya.
  • The weekday must not be Tuesday.
  • The day must not fall in Chaturmas, from Devshayani to Devutthana Ekadashi.
  • The Sun must not be in Sagittarius or Pisces (Kharmas), and the lunar month must not be an adhika masa.

Each date is screened at Kashi sunrise. The final muhurat within the day still depends on lagna purity and the couple's charts — consult an astrologer before fixing the hour.
